Monkeypox vaccine clinic planned for Monroe County
Rochester, New York – Next week, Monroe County will begin offering monkeypox vaccinations.
The health department has scheduled four clinics for those eligible. The Monroe County Immunization Clinic (111 Westfall Road, Rochester) will offer vaccinations Monday, July 25, and Friday, July 29. The Monroe County Sexual Health Clinic (855 West Main Street, Rochester) will offer vaccinations Tuesday, July 26, and Thursday, July 28.
Individuals must meet all three of the following criteria, to be eligible for monkeypox vaccination.
• A gay or bisexual male, a man who has sex with men, and/or transgender, gender non-conforming, or gender non-binary
• Age 18 or older
• Multiple or anonymous sex partners in the last 14 days
Walk-ins will not be accepted. Appointments are required and can be made online. Those who have been identified as close contacts will be provided with an appointment and do not need to schedule one online.
As of Thursday, Monroe County has four confirmed monkeypox cases. Those who have been diagnosed with monkeypox are not eligible for the vaccine.
According to the county, in the near future, it will announce additional clinics.
