Roberts Wesleyan now a ‘university’
Chili, New York – Roberts Wesleyan College is now known as Roberts Wesleyan University.
On Tuesday, the school made the announcement, effective immediately.
This comes after the New York State Board of Regents recently revised its definition of a university.
According to Roberts Wesleyan, it planned for the move by adding programs. The school offers 26 master’s and two doctoral programs to qualify for university status.
“We are excited by the new opportunities and recognition that come with university status,” university President Deana Porterfield said in a statement. “Now we move forward with more flexible options to serve our students; with focused vision, and with courageous optimism in meeting and engaging the challenges of higher education in today’s world.”
Roberts Wesleyan’s name change comes shortly after St. John Fisher University made a similar move.
