Voters who are ‘certainly’ casting ballots in November are cutting into Hochul’s lead over Zeldin
New York – As election day approaches, Democratic incumbent Kathy Hochul continues to lead Republican opponent Rep. Lee Zeldin.
A recent Marist College poll shows Hochul leading Zeldin by 10 points.
Interestingly, among respondents who say they will ‘certainly’ cast a ballot in the upcoming election, Hochul’s lead is only 8 points.
According to the poll, the incumbent would win by a margin of about 51-41 if voting had taken place today.
With their respective parties, both candidates prevail. Zeldin, though, has a significant lead, with independent voters winning that category by a 14-point margin, according to the poll.
According to current Siena College polling, the race for governor is fairly tight outside of New York City.
The Republican challenger’s success will hinge on Upstate vs. Downstate turnout and his capacity to win with wider margins in the Upstate counties when early voting begins.
