2 Finger Lakes Nursing Homes Face Fines Over Improper COVID-19 Infection Protocols
Two local nursing homes are facing fines from New York State after health inspectors reported both did not follow proper infection prevention protocols during the pandemic.
The Villages of Orleans Health and Rehabilitation Center in Albion, as well as Creekview Nursing and Rehab Center in Gates both face fines of more than $15,000.
The Village of Orleans’ citation says nurse aides went in and out of rooms of residents with COVID-19 and into rooms where non-infected residents were, passing breakfast trays, and not wearing proper face protection.
Creekview faced a similar citation, as the health department says it did not follow infection control precautions potentially resulting in cross-contamination for 89 residents not identified as having COVID-19.
Spectrum News has reached out to both nursing homes for a response and has not heard back.
