Rochester firefighters battle pair of fires within 20 minutes

Rochester, New York – Tuesday night Rochester firefighters were called to battle two different fires within 20 minutes of one another.

The first fire occurred after 9 p.m. at a home on N. Goodman Street.

According to fire crews, one resident inside was able to climb onto the front porch roof, where they were able to assist them with climbing down a ladder.

The second-floor fire was under control within about half an hour. Fire damage was contained to that second floor, while the rest of the home was damaged by smoke and water.

The Red Cross is assisting the displaced with temporary housing.

Only 20 minutes after the initial fire, a fire ignited at a commercial building on Lincoln Avenue where firefighters were able to limit smoke and fire damage to a single office area.

According to firefighters, no injuries were reported in either fire.

The causes of both fires remain under investigation.
