Gov. Hochul: COVID-19 delta surge continuous in NY

Albany, New York — Tuesday Governor Hochul gave a COVID and vaccination briefing in Albany.

“For now we are seeing a continuation of the Delta variant…” said the Governor.

Something the Governor says this is not what we want to see.

Statewide the positivity rate is 2.19%, 38 people have died to COVID in the last 24 hours.

According to the governor, as for vaccine mandates, The Office of Mental Health and People with Developmental Disabilities must get a vaccine before November 1st for inpatient hospital workers.

The Governor also announced a program that will allow the Excelsior Pass to validate passes from other states.

“New York was hit hard by COVID-19, and we have led bold efforts to pursue innovative solutions to reinvigorate economies,” Governor Hochul said. “Excelsior Pass and Excelsior Pass Plus—the nation’s first vaccine and negative test pass system—have been critical tools in the safe reopening of our economy and the protection of New York’s public health. We’re expanding this solution even further with a set of standards that can be used and validated by all businesses for free, nationwide, based on shared policies and commitments New Yorkers trust.”
