Monroe County Executive Adam Bello announces public engagement plan for ARPA funds
Rochester, New York – On Saturday Monroe County Executive Adam Bello announced the official kick-off of the county’s public engagement efforts to support Monroe’s financial recovery efforts.
Bello thanked members of the local, state, and the federal legislature for supporting the American Rescue Plan (ARPA) which will provide $144 million in aid to the county.
“This, right now, is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” he said, from a podium set up in the Zoo’s Rocky Coasts exhibit hall. “We must invest these critical dollars to ensure that their collective impact is robust but also long-lasting.”
Bello named six priority areas targeted for ARPA dollars: public safety, public health and wellness, economic recovery, workforce development, infrastructure improvements, and sustainability.
He also announced several opportunities for the public to offer engagement and feedback.
Meetings will take place at the following locations:
Oct. 27, Millennium Lodge in Greece Canal Park
Nov. 10, the Joseph C. Wilson Magnet High School in Rochester
Dec. 1, Grand View Lodge, in Powder Mills Park
Dec. 8, Virtual event.
A community-wide online survey will be made available at MonroeCounty.gov.
