Owasco and Moravia set to opt-in for both marijuana sales and consumption
New York – The Cayuga County towns of Owasco and Sterling have not opted out, of both retail marijuana sales and on-premise consumption.
The Citizen quotes Owasco Supervisor Ed Wagner as saying residents support the idea.
According to Wagner, because the town has no downtown business district, any application for a marijuana business would go through the town’s zoning and planning boards.
The village of Moravia and the towns of Elbridge and Scipio have reportedly decided to opt-out by the December 31st deadline.
It appears unlikely there will be any retail sales before 2023.
Over four hundred communities have opted out, according to published reports.
Most cities in New York have opted in. Slightly more have banned or plan to ban on-premise consumption. Around 30% of New York communities have said no to sales.
