Rochester Friendship Festival with members of the American Special Hockey Association
Rochester, New York – In order to take part in the Rochester Friendship Festival on Saturday and Sunday at Bill Gray’s Regional IcePlex, hundreds of hockey players, coaches, and fans traveled to Rochester from throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Because the community is home to the Rochester Ice Cats, which hosted the festival and is a member of the American Special Hockey Association, the event was held in Rochester. The numerous teams were comprised of, and for, individuals with developmental disabilities.
The team’s mission specializes in providing training in the game of ice hockey for individuals with developmental disabilities and helping them to develop skills in socialization, teamwork, and responsibility, while striving to instill self-worth and satisfaction in individual and team accomplishments.
Teams came from New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Canada.
They were all members of the American Special Hockey Association.
