Rochester man convicted of 2020 manslaughter
Rochester, New York – On Thursday, a man has been convicted of fatally shooting another man in Rochester in August 2020 – while he was on parole.
Jamil Knox was convicted of first-degree manslaughter and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon for the death of Alondo Lathrop Jr.
On Aug. 4, 2020, Lathrop was shot while riding his bike on the corner of Wabash Street and North Goodman Street. According to the prosecution, he died instantly.
Knox was released from prison and put on parole for his conviction of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, just a month before the murder.
Rochester Police credited Knox’s arrest to help from the community.
Knox will be sentenced on July 1 before Monroe County Court Judge Karen Bailey Turner.
