Annual conference of the New York State Association for Affordable Housing in Rochester
Rochester, New York — On Wednesday, Rochester hosted the annual conference of the New York State Association for Affordable Housing.
Policymakers, advocates, and developers discussed the housing shortage and the preservation and creation of affordable housing units.
The conference also discussed Rochester specifically. About what Rochester needs to overcome the current housing crisis, Mayor Malik Evans says:
“We launched the affordable housing task force a few months ago,” Evans said. “There’s a lot of recommendations that came out of that. And in order for us to realize a lot of the recommendations that were in that report, we’re going to need the support of New York State and the many people in this room that work to build and bring affordable housing to the community.”
This comes a day after the groundbreaking of an affordable housing project on Canal Street in Rochester.
