Deputies: 2 Arrested in Henrietta Traffic Stop Altercation
Two Monroe County residents face multiple charges, with one facing a second-degree assault charge, after a traffic stop led an altercation with Monroe County sheriff’s deputies on June 26.
Just after 3 a.m. in the town of Henrietta, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says deputies observed a 2012 Ford Fiesta failing to stop at a red light at the intersection of Jefferson Road and East Henrietta Road.
The deputies stopped the vehicle at a gas station on Jefferson Road, where a female and male passenger exited the vehicle and allegedly failed to comply with officers to stay in the vehicle.
Deputies say the female, Jessica Sainz, 26, of Rochester, who was the driver of the car, began physically pulling away after an attempt to detain her inside the store, striking and pushing the arresting officer.
The male passenger, Marcus McCreary, 39, of Gates, allegedly attempted to interfere with the arrest of the driver, and began yelling obscenities and physically attacking the deputy inside the store, striking them multiple times in the face.
Both allegedly attempted to flee the scene before being taken into custody.
The arresting deputy suffered a laceration to the inside of his lip, bruising, pain, and swelling to his face, as well as pain and swelling to his right knee.
McCreary is charged with second-degree assault, obstructing governmental administration, and resisting arrest.
Sainz is facing charges of obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.
