Motor vehicle accident in Pike, one person is dead

Pike, New York – A motor vehicle accident was reported in Pike on Friday afternoon.
Wyoming County Sheriffs responding to calls located a pickup truck that struck a utility pole, and the driver of the truck died at the scene.
According to the preliminary investigation reports, the driver, Thomas Hartman, 44-years-old, of Fillmore, left the south side of East Hillside Road, came back onto the road, and left the north side of the roadway, before striking the utility pole.
A front-seat passenger, Austin Hartman, 21-years-old, of Pike, was ejected from the vehicle.
Hartman was transported to a trauma center in Erie County where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation is ongoing.
The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Crash Management Team is conducting the investigation.
