One teen killed, another hurt after hit-and-run in town of Ithaca
Ithaca, New York – A 37-year-old Ithaca man was arrested on DWI and vehicular manslaughter charges after a 14-year-old was killed- and another injured in a hit-and-run in the town of Ithaca.
According to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office reports, the incident happened a little before 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday around the 1400 block of Trumansburg Road.
Upon arrival on the scene, police found both victims, who were transported to Cayuga Medical Center. One of the two succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
Deputies were told that the driver took off after hitting the girls. The vehicle was later found on Danby Road.
The driver was ultimately identified as Robert Defelice of Ithaca. He was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a fatal crash, and vehicular manslaughter.
Defelice is being held at the Tompkins County Jail without bail.
