Rochester Police Department warning public of scam
Rochester, New York — The Rochester Police Department become aware of a text message scam and sends warning to the public.
Police say, a scammer sends a text message where they threaten harm against the victim’s family unless the scammer is paid.
According to the RPD the scammer also sends a photograph of violent content to the victim.
If anyone receives one of these messages, police are urging to call 911 or 311.
