Starting Saturday mobile sports gambling begins in New York

Rochester, New York — On Saturday, mobile sports gambling begins in New York.

Those who want can bet on this weekend’s Buffalo Bills game right from their phones.

Just in time for bets on the last week of regular-season games and, of course, the Super Bowl, four mobile sportsbooks, including FanDuel, have received the go-ahead from the state’s gaming commission.

According to the president of FanDuel, they expect mobile betting in New York to become popular very quickly.

“We think New York is going to be one of the biggest markets. We’re live in a dozen states, and we think New York is going to be one of the largest markets,” Amy Howe said.

In order to start up mobile betting operations, five other companies are still awaiting the state’s okay.
