The storm causes the Pantry of Angels to lose a source of food

Lindley, New York – The storm that occurred this week caused the Pantry of Angels to lose thousands of dollars worth of food, which is equivalent to two weeks’ worth of supply material. Despite this, the food pantry was able to continue serving those in need because of the generators that were donated, which assisted in maintaining the food’s temperature.
Concern was voiced by Crystal McCannon, President and Chief Executive Officer of the pantry, regarding the huge amount of food that was lost.
“We have lost thirteen freezers worth of food. Seven refrigerators worth of food, and two walk-in coolers worth of food,” said McCannon. “I was up every hour and in that time I continuously checked all of the refrigerators every hour and I watched them go out of temperature because when they go out of temperature, we’re not allowed to give out anything if it’s out of temperature for any longer than four hours.”
Within the Twin Tiers, the pantry provides assistance to around 250 families on a weekly basis, as stated by McCannon. The likelihood that there will be sufficient food for people to pick up in the coming weeks is something that she is dubious of.
Sandra Calton, who was one of the persons waiting in line, said, “I know that’s a really difficult thing to do because so many of us lost food.” I was unable to find food. The fact that they are still able to assist individuals is very remarkable, considering that my electricity was off for close to eighty hours.
The food distributions that are held by the pantry take place every week on Thursdays between the hours of 4:00 and 5:30 p.m. Additionally, McCannon said that individuals are able to make food donations to the pantry at any time.
