The University of Rochester School of Nursing receives $1 million donation
Rochester, New York — The University of Rochester School of Nursing received an anonymous $1 million that will expand one local nursing program.
According to the University of Rochester, it will fund construction at Helen Wood Hall and train nursing students.
The donor benefitted from at-home nursing care.
“What I do know is that this individual had previous experiences where nurses were really important and consequential to, and so really saw this opportunity, a way of paying it forward,” Lydia Rotondo, University of Rochester School of Nursing Education and Student Affairs associate dean, said. “It is such a valued investment because it really is true that we will certainly use this donation to education hundreds of students, hundreds of nurses.”
According to officials, the $1 million helps pay for a three-floor expansion of the nursing school building that will officially open in the spring.
