This man carjacked a woman and her little daughter pointing gun, almost killing them while at a gas station
Authorities are constantly warning to take measures for securing homes, vehicles such as installing security cameras, locking the doors of the vehicles or even keeping dogs in the yards because lately thefts and burglaries are on the rise throughout the country.
But sometimes, despite all the measures we take to avoid such unfortunate events, we simply end up robbed from thieves and losing valuable items from our properties.
One woman faced such an unfortunate event in Upstate New York couple of days ago when she was confronted by a thief and ended up without her car and terrified as at that moment she was accompanied by her 2-year-old child in the back seats of the vehicle.
The 30-year-old man, Jonathon G.W. was taken into custody after police chase in connection to the incident.
The 24-year-old woman went to a gas station earlier this week with her baby in the back seat, and at the moment she was preparing to get off the vehicle she was confronted by the carjacker, Jonathon, who jumped into the driver’s seat pointing a gun and threatened that bad things will happen to both her and the toddler if she resists the carjacking.
The woman, fearing for her life, immediately got off the vehicle with the toddler in her hands and reported the incident to 911 after Jonathon fled the scene with the stolen vehicle.
According to police report, at least three different police agencies were looking for the suspect and once the deputies noticed the vehicle, they started the pursuit.
Officers said it was a 30-odd-mile chase as the suspect, Jonathon, was successfully eluding the police. Sheriff J. Smith said that at one point he took evasive action since the suspect came towards him.
After fleeing police on several roads across the area, the vehicle got stuck into a ditch but the pursuit continued as the suspect fled on foot into a wooded area off of a canal trail.
Officers noticed the suspect walking along a nearby bike trail and arrested him without any further incident.
Jonathon is facing two counts of second degree menacing along with one count of reckless endangerment, one count of criminal impersonation, DWAI and several others traffic related charges.
According to officers, Jonathon is currently being detained in jail on $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond.
Despite suffering stress and fear, the 24-year-old woman and her toddler are doing fine as they got out unharmed of the incident and are currently aided by their family.
The identities of the mother and the baby have not been revealed.
